‘Warm for Winter’ – 2020 Winter Campaign

Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace, said: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

As we begin to say goodbye to the autumn season, families around the world prepare for winter. The season can be a hopeful time for many and a struggle for others. The harsh season brings upon significant problems such as an increase in death rates as families lack shelter, food, clothing, and heat. This winter, Muslim Aid has sought the help of young people across the country to help raise funds for families in poverty-driven regions across 11 countries.

Who are we?

The campaign ‘Warm for Winter’ is being driven by a group of young adults between the ages 16 and 23, the team is diverse and located internationally! There are around 70 volunteers involved and dedicated to helping families during winter, this is an amazing turnout, and it will help us reach a bigger audience and spread the importance of this campaign.

What are the aims?

This campaign will focus on ensuring families are Warm for Winter, this will be achieved through providing as many necessities as possible such as clothes, lankets, shelter, and food to aid struggling families during this difficult period. We will be fundraising for families in the UK along with a number of countries within the Middle East/Asia region: Palestine, Pakistan, Syria, Lebanon, and Bangladesh. The funds will be used to purchase essential items that will ensure families in these regions have a chance of surviving the harsh winter that is coming, this includes winter kits both individual and for families – clothing and blankets, along with family food parcels.

How do we plan to achieve this?

We are currently organising several virtual activities from winter walks, crowdfunding to sponsorships. Collectively as a team we decided that COVID-19 would not deter our efforts and we would push ahead with our individual fundraising targets.

What can you do?

You are a fundamental part of our campaign, by reading and engaging with this development you are supporting the intention, the progress, and pending results. As we work towards developing our plans, you can follow the team on Muslim Aid’s social media. Once we start uploading be sure to share our content, help us spread the campaign and fundraise for those who struggle during the harsh period of winter. In terms of fundraising, the subsequent post will have details on what exactly the team will be participating in to garner funds and then we will create a way for you to contribute and meet our targets!

We are looking forward to sharing updates and releasing exciting behind the scenes developments, stay tuned & help us spread the word.
