Your Zakat saved hundreds of earthquake victims in Indonesia – here's how

At Muslim Aid, we believe in a safer and dignified world for all. Your pledge of faith by paying your Zakat is their protection against poverty and disaster.

We distribute over £7 million of Zakat every year, using our expert knowledge on the ground to intervene where the need is greatest. Here’s how we did this with your Zakat when a deadly earthquake hit Indonesia’s Java Island on 21 November 2022 which claimed the lives of hundreds of people.

We were one of the first charities on the ground to support the victims and started an emergency appeal to save as many lives as possible.

With your Zakat payments, we impacted hundreds on the ground and have managed to distribute food, water, safety supplies and hygiene products.

By the grace of Allah, your donations saved the lives of 1,900 people – here's how.

For over 35 years, Muslim Aid has been taking our trust of Zakat very seriously. We know your pledge is their protection. Entrust us to help relieve the Ummah’s distress with your Zakat.

Muslim Aid’s long history of work on the ground has revolved around projects that are naturally eligible for Zakat. That is because we focus on relieving hunger, quenching thirst, providing access to healthcare, relieving families of poverty and uplifting communities into self-sufficient and dignified futures. Our consistent presence in and amongst the people we serve means we understand the local and often changing needs of people.

Our field officers work with local government, agencies and community organisations to assess where the need is greatest and therefore what kind of intervention would make the most impact. Giving your Zakat where the need is greatest gives our experts on the ground the ability to respond to the most vulnerable quickly, efficiently, and effectively.

Zakat is an act of unity for the Ummah- share the privilege of this blessed trust with Muslim Aid.
