Muslim Aid announces Tim Holmes as Interim CEO

Muslim Aid announces the appointment of Tim Holmes as Interim Chief Executive Officer. He will join us from 27 January 2026 and take over as CEO for the next few months. This follows the resignation of our CEO Khalid Javid.

Tim brings nearly 30 years of experience in the humanitarian and development sector. He has worked in many Muslim-majority contexts, including with the Aga Khan Foundation in Afghanistan, Tearfund in Sudan and Oxfam in Palestine. Tim has worked for Oxfam GB in a variety of senior roles for 15 years, including as International Operations Director. He was most recently CEO of Medical Aid for Palestinians.

Tim joins Muslim Aid to provide leadership and stability during a critical period, including our busiest time of the year with the month of Ramadan nearly upon us in February.

Tim Holmes said: "I’m really pleased to be joining Muslim Aid, one of the oldest Muslim faith-based charities in the UK, as they celebrate their 40th year. I’m looking forward to working with the Board of Trustees and the Leadership Team to deliver a successful Ramadan season and improve the efficiency of our operations as we embed our new strategy."
