Muslim Aid’s ‘Build Your Wealth Tour’ Empowers Communities with Tools for Generational Wealth and Sustainable Prosperity

Muslim Aid is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its landmark Build Your Wealth Tour, an initiative aimed at giving back to the community by providing accessible halal financial education and equipping families with the tools to build generational wealth. Spanning seven cities across the UK, the tour ran from Saturday, 18th January to Sunday, 26th January 2025, with events held in Manchester, West Drayton, Southall, Cambridge, Hounslow, South Woodford, and Leicester.

This pilot initiative, delivered in partnership with Islamic Finance Guru, Wahed, Saturna Capital, Nester, and the Riba Free Foundation, reflects Muslim Aid’s strategic commitment to sustainability and community empowerment. By addressing critical topics such as halal investments, real estate, pensions, avoiding riba, and cryptocurrency, the tour created a unique opportunity for communities to access practical, faith-based financial guidance.

More than half of British Muslims were living in poverty even before the pandemic, according to the Muslim Census. Yet, a study by British Muslims Consultancy Blue State revealed that British Muslims are the most generous group in the UK, donating over four times as much to charity each year as the average Brit. This generosity, even amidst financial challenges, highlights the resilience of the community. However, it also underscores the pressing need to address the root causes of poverty and move beyond survival mode to help families and individuals thrive.

The Build Your Wealth Tour was born out of this need. With its focus on equipping individuals with the knowledge to make ethical, informed financial decisions, the initiative has planted the seeds for long-term resilience. By fostering self-reliance and breaking cycles of poverty, the tour empowers families to build sustainable futures aligned with Islamic values.

Reflecting on the event, Adnan Ali, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Muslim Aid, said:

"The Build Your Wealth Tour is a powerful example of Muslim Aid giving back to the communities we serve. By focusing on halal financial education, we are enabling individuals to build wealth ethically, create sustainable futures, and break cycles of financial vulnerability. This initiative is a step forward in our mission to strengthen communities through sustainability, education, and empowerment."

Throughout the week-long tour, attendees benefited from a range of sessions led by some of the foremost experts in Islamic finance, who shared practical insights on critical topics, including:

  • Wealth Management: Ibrahim Khan and Muhammad Altalib (IFG) outlined strategies for ethical financial growth.
  • Halal Mutual Funds and ETFs: Pontus Selander (Saturna) provided clarity on halal investment options.
  • Halal Real Estate Finance: Youness Abidou (Nester) explored property ownership solutions free of riba.
  • Halal Pensions and Retirement Planning: Fazeel Siddiqui and Abul Fazal Salahuddin (Wahed) offered guidance on securing halal pensions.
  • Avoiding Riba and Financial Literacy: Omar Khaliel (Riba Free) shared strategies for navigating financial systems while avoiding interest-based practices.

In addition to the expert-led sessions, the tour fostered engaging discussions, offered actionable advice, and provided networking opportunities for participants to connect with professionals, community leaders, and like-minded individuals.

The Build Your Wealth Tour underscores Muslim Aid’s broader vision of creating sustainable, self-reliant communities. By equipping individuals with the tools and resources needed to thrive, the initiative is helping to transform lives and create lasting impact.
