Muslim Aid takes the lead with new Family-friendly Policies

At Muslim Aid, we are committed to creating a workplace that reflects our values of Dignity, Justice, Excellence, Compassion, and Service. Our employees are at the heart of everything we do, and we believe in supporting them as they support the communities we serve. As such, we are proud to announce a significant enhancement to our family-friendly policies, reflecting both our core values and our Islamic ethos of supporting families and honouring parents.

From this month, all employees with two years of service, regardless of gender, will be entitled to six months of full pay for family leave, including maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave. This benefit underscores our commitment to supporting our teams when they need it most.

It will also be a day-one right for those with less than two years of service to receive pay at the statutory rate for all types of family leave, including maternity and adoption leave, forgoing the need to have 26 weeks of continuous service to be eligible for pay.

Muslim Aid recognises the profound importance of the family unit in both our organisational culture and the communities we serve. Families are the cornerstone of a compassionate society, and the first few months of a child’s life are critical to their development and life chances. We are honoured to play our part in supporting our teams as they balance the joys and responsibilities of parenthood.

As with our accreditation as a Living-Wage employer last year, by taking this step we hope it will empower others across the sector on the same path as we all work towards improving the benefits and balance we offer to our teams in appreciation of their commitment and hard work to making change for those most in need across the world.

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
