Muslim Aid appoints Razib Hassan as Chief Executive Officer

Muslim Aid has appointed Razib Hassan as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 21 December 2026. He succeeds Interim Chief Executive Tim Holmes and will lead the organisation into the next phase of Strategy 2030, focused on strengthening impact and delivering lasting change for communities facing poverty, conflict and crisis.

Mr Hassan brings more than 25 years of experience across international development, public service and the charitable and private sectors. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, he has held senior roles with the UK Government's international development functions, the United Nations and international consultancy, with experience spanning the UK, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Since joining Muslim Aid in February 2024, Mr Hassan has led Finance and Procurement, served as Acting Chief Executive and, most recently, held the position of Chief Operating Officer. He has played an important role in the charity's organisational transformation, helping strengthen financial management, governance and reporting, and supporting its move towards a more sustainable financial footing.

The next phase of Strategy 2030 will focus on increasing programme impact, building sustainable and diversified income, and strengthening the organisational capabilities needed to support long-term growth.

Razib Hassan, incoming Chief Executive Officer of Muslim Aid, said:

“Muslim Aid was founded over 40 years ago by people who gave generously, often from modest means. Every pound entrusted to us is an amanah - a sacred trust - and we have a responsibility to demonstrate the difference it makes.

“As humanitarian needs grow and funding comes under pressure, my focus will be on deepening our impact alongside local partners and communities, strengthening financial sustainability, and building the capabilities needed to deliver on our ambitions. I am honoured to lead Muslim Aid into its next chapter.”

Raihan Alfaradhi, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Muslim Aid, said:

“Razib brings a strong commitment to Muslim Aid's values and mission, alongside international development experience, financial and operational expertise, and a clear understanding of the choices ahead. He is well placed to lead the delivery of Strategy 2030.

“I would also like to thank Tim Holmes for his leadership through a demanding period of organisational change, helping strengthen our financial resilience and organisational capability. We are grateful for his contribution and wish him every success as he takes up his new role as Chief Executive of Age International.”
