Sudan is facing one of the world’s most severe humanitarian emergencies after more than 1,000 days of conflict. Around 21.2 million people (nearly half the population) are facing acute food insecurity, with famine conditions already confirmed in parts of the country.
The conflict has forced over 12 million people from their homes, leaving many families living in overcrowded shelters with limited access to food, clean water and healthcare.
Children are among the most vulnerable. More than 3.2 million children under five are at risk of severe acute malnutrition, while the healthcare system has been heavily damaged, with around 70% of health facilities no longer functioning.
Despite challenges, lifesaving support continues through 61 healthcare and nutrition centres across Omdurman, Karari, Jabal Awlia, and Bahri. These centres provide emergency medical treatment, maternal and child healthcare, nutrition programmes for malnourished children, and essential medicines for vulnerable communities.
