Prophetic Qurbani

When donating Qurbani, Muslims around the world are ensuring that poorer and more vulnerable families, friends, and neighbours are able to celebrate the festival of Eid al-Adha even if they do not have the financial means to do so themselves. When an individual decides to give a Qurbani on behalf of the Prophet (PBUH), otherwise known as a Prophetic Qurbani, they are, in effect, doubling the impact of their donation.

“The Prophet (SAW) sacrificed for the one who could not sacrifice from his Ummah, one who bore witness to the Oneness of Allah and [his] Prophethood.” (Tabarani and Ahmad).

What is Prophetic Qurbani?

What this means is that while everyone has a duty to give Qurbani in time for Eid al-Adha, there are many individuals who have the means to make a second Qurbani donation on behalf of those within the Ummah who do not have the financial means to donate Qurbani.

What is the Prophetic Qurbani Meaning?

There is a deeper meaning behind this beyond simply making a Qurbani donation. This act is inspired by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who gave his first Qurbani for the sake of Allah (SWT) and a second Qurbani on behalf of the Ummah. By following in the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), a devout Muslim is following his Sunnah, practising his guidance, and repeating his good deeds.

“Whoever revives a Sunnah of mine that dies out after I am gone, he will have a reward equivalent to that of those among the people who act upon it, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.” (Hadith / Ibn Majah).

When Can You Give Qurbani on Behalf of the Prophet (PBUH)?

You can make your Qurbani on behalf of the Prophet (PBUH) at the same time as making your primary Qurbani donation, doubling the number of vulnerable families you are able to help celebrate Eid al-Adha. Donating couldn’t be easier through the Muslim Aid online donation portal, where you can choose one or more Prophetic Qurbani donations.

As a result of your additional donation, many more hungry people will enjoy a nutritious and healthy meal in the light of the revival of the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Sunnah.

“The Prophet (SAW) used to sacrifice two rams, and I also sacrifice two rams.” (Bukhari).

Meat may be a luxury, but during Eid al-Adha, it is accessible by even the poorest of communities through the generosity of Prophetic Qurbani.
