Northern Refugee Centre

Northern Refugee Centre
The Northern Refugee Centre has helped to support and empower refugees that have fled their homes in search of hope in the UK. With projects supported by Muslim Aid, such as drop-in sessions offering free advice and English language development classes, around 335 vulnerable Muslim Women benefitted in 2012. The centre aims to tackle the challenges faced by refugee women and help them on their path to rebuilding their lives.

Joining The Conversation Club

As a member of The Conversation Club, a Muslim Aid supported project that brings refugee women and new migrants together with English speakers, Sultana who had fled conflict in Iraq said: “this place is good for my mind and soul. The centre is indeed a blessing”.
Conversation Clubs offer the opportunity for refugees, asylum seekers and other new migrants to come together with English-speaking volunteers to practice conversational English, meet new people and take part in various activities. The conversation clubs are free, and do not need to be pre-booked, you can just turn up on the day.

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
