On 21 November 2022, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Cianjur region in West Java.

The casualties continue to rise as experts fear the possibility of aftershocks.
Ridwan Kamil, the Governor of West Java Province said the numbers of injuries and fatalities are likely to increase because there were "a lot of people" still trapped and not yet reported, especially in remote areas.
