Why You Should Go the Extra Mile

When it comes to being selfless and sharing the benefits of your own good fortune, there are many different ways in which you can go about helping those around you. Of course, it isn’t always easy to get into this mindset, but once you do, your generosity is sure to bring great rewards.

From helping the homeless through donations of time or money to simply providing support for a friend in need, there are many ways in which you can work to better the lives of others both in your own community and elsewhere across the world.

Bountiful Rewards

The rewards of such generous behaviour are plentiful; not only will you be following your faith and completing religious dues, but you will also be working towards a better future for everyone as equals. And, after all, what better reward could there possibly be than that?

It is easy to complete small acts of kindness. Whether it is just giving someone directions or dropping some spare change into a charity donation box, these small situations arise each and every day – it is up to us how we choose to act upon them. Waking up every day and viewing each situation as an opportunity to do good is a perfect way to begin working towards a better future.

Of course, sometimes the opportunity for larger acts of kindness and generosity will present itself to us. In these situations, we are able to truly make a decision about the role we wish to play, whether we let these opportunities pass us by or whether we grab them with both hands and do everything we can to change the world, one little piece at a time.

Helping the Homeless

Times like these are when we make a conscious effort to go the extra mile and really give back to others, be it loved ones or complete strangers. We must strive to do our best in everything that we do; only then will we be able to truly feel satisfied with the effort we have put in.

For instance, when helping the homeless, instead of simply dropping a few pennies into a homeless person’s collection pot, why not buy them some food or a hot drink? You could even go one step further and volunteer at a homeless shelter, or set up a regular charity donation, to ensure your aid continues to reach the people who are most in need.

However you want to help and whichever way you go about achieving it, remember the rewards that generosity and going the extra mile can bring.

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
