World’s largest displacement crises
Nearly 14 years of brutal war in Syria has claimed the lives of over 400,000 people and more than 13 million Syrians have been forcibly displaced from their homes, making Syria one of the world’s largest displacement crises.
The country’s economy and infrastructure has been devastated. The humanitarian need is staggering, and over 16 million people require aid - the highest need since the conflict began in 2011.

The winter season further exacerbates an already devastating situation, as millions of displaced people face more challenges ahead.
In northwest Syria, over 70% live in overcrowded camps or informal settlements, and lack the most basic amenities, such as heating, warm clothing, nutritious food and adequate shelter.
As the winter intensifies, many will struggle to survive.
