Fun filled activities were planned in cities such as Golra, Bagh, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Tarnol, Shahdra and Green Town where the kids were shown how to recycle and reuse goods. Workshops were also held on the effects of global warming, environmental pollution and protection, and the importance of keeping one’s surroundings clean and litter-free.
The children were excited to exhibit their colourful pictures on their vision of an environment without pollution. Charged with enthusiasm, they were also given the wonderful opportunity to plant small trees of their own in order to encourage a greener environment.
At home, they were only too keen to share with their families, friends and neighbours the messages they learnt from the day, as they went around their local communities holding self made placards titled: "cleanliness is half of faith”. They also made bags with glaze paper and newspapers and gave them to the shopkeepers along with a card written “minimize the use of plastic bags”.
Children walked away feeling empowered and equipped with the knowledge and responsibility that they are little individuals making the world a greener and safer place for themselves and their future loved ones.
