1988 – Relief and Livelihoods in Sudan

Severe drought in Sudan prompted stepped-up relief: tents, food, blankets and medicine were distributed across Sudan, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Angola; part of a largerresponse to 16 million people affected by famine. Somali refugees in Kenya received 200 tonnes of food.

Beyond emergency aid, Muslim Aid began supporting livelihoods, helping families in Khartoum start small textile businesses and expanding interest-free loan programmes across Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan and Bosnia marking a shift toward sustainable development.

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
