Back to School

Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. At Muslim Aid, we do not treat education as a privilege, but a right for every child. Your donation can give vulnerable children hope and opportunity by providing education.

This September, send a child back to school. Donate Now.

As classrooms across the UK fill up again this September, millions of children elsewhere are being left behind. Not because they don't want to learn, but because poverty, conflict and disaster have put something as simple as a school bag or a uniform out of reach.

Knowledge is one of the greatest gifts we can give. A single child's education can lift a whole family out of poverty, and a generation of educated children can lift an entire community. When we invest in a child's education, we are investing in the future of the Ummah itself.

According to UNESCO's 2026 Global Education Monitoring Report, 273 million children and young people are now out of school worldwide; this is the seventh year in a row this number has risen. That means one in six school-age children globally is missing out on an education, and only two in three children who start school complete it. For many, it comes down to the most basic of barriers: no uniform, no books, no safe classroom to learn in.

This Back to School season, you can change that. A school bag, a set of books, a rebuilt classroom; every gift opens a door that poverty had closed.

An Islamic Perspective on Knowledge

The very first word revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was "Iqra", meaning "Read" or "Recite". Before any command to pray or fast, Allah (SWT) commanded humankind to seek knowledge. From that first revelation, the pursuit of learning was placed at the very foundation of our faith.

The Prophet ﷺ said: "Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim." He ﷺ taught that this duty is not confined by age, gender or circumstance, and it is a pursuit to continue "from the cradle to the grave."

He ﷺ also elevated the status of those who seek and share knowledge, saying that the ink of the scholar is weighed against the blood of the martyr, and that whoever treads a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy their path to Paradise.

When we deny a child an education, we deny them a path that Islam itself calls sacred. When we help a child return to the classroom, we help fulfil a command given in the very first verses of the Quran.

Give the gift of education. Send a child back to school today.
