Head of Region - Middle East

Location: Amman, Jordan 

Duration of Assignment: Fixed term (2 years) 

Salary: £50, 000 plus benefits

Who we are?

Muslim Aid is a British, faith-based International Development organisation which provides support to communities around the world affected by disasters, conflict or endemic poverty without regard to their social, religious, or ethnic background.

Who we are looking for?

As the Head of Region (HoR), you will provide strategic leadership to Muslim Aid (MA) Country Offices/Partners in the Middle East Region to strengthen the quality and impact of existing programmes. You will also be developing innovative new Humanitarian and Development Programme initiatives to meet the needs of a diverse and complex region, build funding and programme partnerships to sustain this work.

 Some of the duties (amongst others) of this role are as follows:  

  1. Provide guidance, supervision and support to Country Offices/Partners across the Middle East Region.

  2. Provide a vital field perspective of MA’s work, impact, and efficiency in the Region to the International Programmes Department (IPD) and Senior Management Team at HQ, to also contribute to Global level strategy, approach, systems effectiveness and improvements.

  3. Provide Country Offices/Partners with relevant technical (planning, design, development and monitoring of projects) and management support to ensure that programmes are effectively and efficiently implemented.

  4. Support and strengthen existing Country Programmes at the Regional and Country-level through new Programmes Development, ensuring that new programmes fit within MA’s strategy, are technically sound and meet budgetary requirements.

  5. Develop innovative new Regional and Country-Level programmes that meet the needs of the communities in the region and are in line with Regional and Global Humanitarian and Development priorities.

  6. Ensure that the quality of our Programmes and Partnerships at all levels are of a high standard in delivering our promises and commitments in all of our offices in Region.

 Essentials Requirements (amongst others) for this role:

  1. Relevant Masters level qualification or similar academic achievement, and ideally with an academic focus on international development

  2. Proven and progressive experience of working in a Head, CD or other senior level leadership/management position in an INGO including regional and national level.

  3. Significant experience and background in International Development especially in the areas of Humanitarian and Development programming

  4. Experience of working with organisations in developing countries, ideally in the Middle East.
