“O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it” (Al -Tirmidhi)

If you want to make a difference and change lives, why not join us and volunteer some of your time as a mentor for your brothers and sisters in prison. You can help guide them towards rebuilding their lives.

Over the past 20 years, the number of Muslims in prison is growing. In London, this number  is proportionally higher. The Muslim male prisoner population in London amounts to almost 30%, compared to 13% nationally.

Once released, ex-offenders often have to deal with community backlashes, especially from ethnic minorities, which leads to further isolation.

With no support from friends or family, who can they turn to? Imagine not being able to turn to family let alone a stranger - what would you do?

As a Prison Mentor, you will be allocated to an inmate prior to their release and will provide them with both emotional and practical support, such as advice and guidance (with regards to housing, accessing drug-rehabilitation treatments etc.) employment prospects (in partnership with Umbrella), and support them through their re-integration process. In this project, we aim to help prisoners from all faiths and backgrounds.

By providing continuous support in partnership with the MCA (Muslim Chaplain’s Association), our aim is to minimise re-offending and provide ex-offenders with a better chance at reintegrating themselves within society. By establishing partnerships with charities and social enterprises with common interests, the project aims to create a referral system acting as a support line to our cause, building an essential link between you, as mentors.
