Rabi Al Awwal is here: The birth month of our beloved

Rabi Al Awwal is here: The birth month of our beloved

Ahamdulillah, the blessed month of Rabi Al Awwal is upon us. The birth month of the chosen one, our spiritual master, the most loved of the loved: our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Rabi Al Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, is a deeply significant period for Muslims as it marks the birth of our most cherished Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), whose life and teachings transformed humanity as we know it.

Born an orphan in Makkah in 570 CE, the Prophet (PBUH) is described by Allah (SWT) as a mercy to all the worlds:

“We sent you (Prophet) only as a mercy to all people.” (Qur’an, 21:107)

This is also the month in which our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), made Hijrah from Makkah to Yaththrib (now known as Madinah) with his companion Abu Bakr (RA).

The migration marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Muslims. The Prophet (PBUH) united the tribes of Madinah, guiding them with justice, wisdom and mercy. The city of Madinah was then known as ‘Madinah Al-Munawwirah’ (Madinah the illuminated), to symbolise its spirituality following the blessed Hijrah.

The Sunnah of the blessed Prophet (PBUH) offers numerous valuable and inspiring teachings that we can embrace and practice throughout the year. One such example is the care for orphans, a highly rewarding Sunnah, as the Prophet (PBUH) himself was an orphan.

Let’s honour and show love of the Messenger (PBUH) is to give to the causes he (PBUH) loved the most.
