Muslim Aid condemns deadly attack on partner colleagues in Gaza

Muslim Aid is gravely concerned by an attack that took place on 10th October 2024 in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza, where an airstrike targeted a school that now serves as a location to provide humanitarian support. Members of Ard El Insan, one of our partner organisations, were providing essential humanitarian assistance at the time of the attack. Two team members tragically lost their lives, while six others sustained serious injuries, including severe burns and critical wounds.

This incident represents a clear violation of the protections afforded to humanitarian workers under international law. We condemn in the strongest terms any attacks on aid workers who risk their lives every day in active war zones to deliver life-saving support to those most vulnerable. Such acts endanger the lives of those dedicated to providing essential services and undermine efforts to assist vulnerable communities.

Muslim Aid reiterates its call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire to safeguard civilians and humanitarian personnel. It is imperative to remember the impartiality of humanitarian workers and allow them to carry out their duties without fear of violence. We urge the international community to act swiftly to ensure the protection of aid workers and uphold the principles of humanitarian law.

Muslim Aid is providing the necessary support to those injured and will continue to Serve Humanity in Gaza.

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
