Muslim Aid’s Farhal Ahmed on BBC World News discussing Rafah escalations

Muslim Aid’s Farhal Ahmed was featured on BBC World News on Saturday 11 May at 9pm discussing his latest trip to Egypt, in which he was overseeing the logistics of the aid distribution to Gaza after the escalations in Rafah.

Farhal Ahmed (Community Fundraising Manager) and Sam Cook (Global Programmes Manager) were in Egypt last week to oversee the developments of Muslim Aid’s humanitarian response aid in Rafah as Israeli forces continued their ground invasion in the area.

The two HQ representatives initiated risk assessments, managed the delivery of aid and used the organisation's reputation and leverage to coordinate with stakeholders to better serve the people of Gaza in their time of dire need.

Rafah is the size of Heathrow Airport, and there are currently 1.5 million people sheltering there, leaving a severe strain on resources.

The current incursion into the area has led to a steep increase in casualties and a closing of the Rafah border crossing, which is a disastrous update for Palestinian civilians in the besieged enclave.

Muslim Aid has been in Gaza since 2006 and has Served Humanity in every major war Gaza has experienced.

This is in addition to ongoing healthcare, housing, livelihoods, and community-based education projects to create long-term change and alleviate poverty in communities.

Since the start of this outbreak of conflict, Muslim Aid has been calling for a ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors by being an active member in a coalition of hundreds of NGOs calling for an immediate ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors.
