Muslim Aid Partners with Eid on the Square to Spotlight Young Voices

Array

London, UK – Muslim Aid is proud to announce as the official charity partner for year’s Eid on the Square, taking place on 8th June 2025. As part of its 40th-anniversary celebrations, the charity will take centre stage to amplify the voices of the next generation through its national youth creative competition: ‘The World We Want to See’.

The creative art and writing competition invites secondary school students aged 8–16 across the UK to share their vision of a brighter, more compassionate world. Winning entries will be revealed at Eid on the Square and showcased on Muslim Aid’s official Eid cards to help raise vital funds for vulnerable communities.

This year’s competition will be judged by an inspiring panel of creatives and art advocates. Hajera Memon, founder of Shade 7, is a pioneering publisher of interactive Islamic children's books with a background in law. Maya Schulz, a multi-award-winning self-taught artist, uses her work to celebrate cultural diversity and has exhibited globally. Laura Walford, co-director of Belgravia Gallery, continues her family’s legacy of promoting art with purpose, including the UK launch of Nelson Mandela’s artwork. Together, they bring a unique blend of creativity, experience, and passion for social impact.

“Eid on the Square is a celebration of community, creativity and shared values,” said Khalid Javid, CEO of Muslim Aid. “By putting young people at the heart of this year’s event, we’re recognising their power to shape the future we all hope for. We’re proud to partner with the Mayor of London’s Eid on the Square to bring this vision to life.”

As well as launching the competition, Muslim Aid is rolling out a new series of free mental well-being workshops in secondary schools across the UK—part of a wider commitment to youth well-being and resilience. A complimentary mental well-being toolkit will also be made available online to ensure access and inclusion for all.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Eid on the Square is one of the highlights of our capital’s cultural calendar and I’m delighted that this year’s programme is bursting with talent and creativity. The event provides a wonderful opportunity for Londoners and visitors of all backgrounds to unite and celebrate the huge contribution Muslim Londoners make to our city. Together we can continue to show that our diversity is our greatest strength, as we build a better London for everyone. Eid Mubarak!”

Founded in 1985 by Yusuf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens), Muslim Aid has delivered humanitarian support to over 70 countries. Now, in its 40th year, the charity is increasing its focus on supporting young people here in the UK.

Muslim Aid invites schools, families and communities to take part in ‘The World We Want to See’ and to join the celebration at Eid on the Square—a joyful, inclusive gathering of Londoners from all walks of life.
