Storm Henk - UK Emergency

Storm Henk has battered parts of the UK with severe flooding and strong winds. Homes have been flooded, leaving residents trapped inside and without access to food, water and electricity.

At Muslim Aid, we believe charity starts at home and that our fellow countrymen have a right to our support at their time of need. Donate now and help our UK Emergency response and save lives.

Storm Henk batters the UK

This week the first named storm of 2024, Storm Henk swept across parts of the UK, with one area experiencing its strongest wind speed for 30 years. Trees have been brought down, homes have suffered power cuts and there has also been reports of the death of a motorist.

In other areas, widespread flooding has damaged homes leaving residents trapped inside without access to food, water and electricity.

Muslim Aid is on the ground

Ahmed Choudhury, Muslim Aid's Fundraising and Volunteers Coordinator, arrived in Leicestershire on Wednesday evening to oversee a needs assessment and to coordinate a specific response for the local community.

Storm Henk wreaked havoc in Leicestershire as the area witnessed some of the worst flooding in years. Dozens of homes are flooded and surrounded by water.

Muslim Aid has so far confirmed the distribution of food vouchers and hygiene kits and is working with local partners to upscale the response.

The situation is only going to get worse as water levels continue to rise and people lose their homes and possessions. We ask individuals to support where they can as the Muslim Aid team work tirelessly to give assistance to families in Leicester.

Charity starts at home

At Muslim Aid, we believe that charity starts at home and we are also reminded in Islam to take care of the needs of our neighbours.

The Messenger of Allah, (pbuh) says:” He is not a believer who eats his fill whilst his neighbour beside him goes hungry” (Sahih al-Bukhari).

With this spirit in mind, together let’s help our fellow countrymen at their time of need.

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
