Muslim Aid has been fully cooperating with the Charity Commission throughout its inquiry. This appointment follows an initial inquiry by the Charity Commission after Muslim Aid proactively approached the commission over issues in two of its overseas offices in Africa. Muslim Aid takes governance and compliance issues very seriously, and it is to the credit of the Charity that it took immediate steps to alert the commission and resolve the issue. Muslim Aid is committed to being transparent in its work and accountable to its key stakeholders.
The Interim Manager, Michael King from Stone King law firm, will be working alongside Muslim Aid’s new Chief Executive, Jehangir Malik OBE, for the next few months to further strengthen the organisation.
As one of the UK’s largest Muslim charities dedicated to tackling poverty, we have a proud history of delivering life changing and life saving work in some of the most challenging places. We are committed to strengthening the organisation and increasing our impact on poverty to improve and save lives around the world.
During this transitional period, Muslim Aid’s vital relief and development work around the world will continue uninterrupted. Last year we helped over 8 million people to access emergency assistance, clean water, healthcare and education though our life saving programmes. We are thankful to the generosity of our donors, supporters and volunteers who make our lifesaving work possible.
